I use only the best in recent evidence-based treatments to help you overcome what you may be dealing with. That doesn’t mean I use a one-size-fits-all approach with my clients; we will spend time exploring what brought you to seek treatment and figuring out together what therapeutic intervention might be best for your situation.
Some of the evidence-based treatment methods that I use in my practice include:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, has extensive research backing its effectiveness in treating all sorts of different mental health issues. It’s particularly beneficial for Major Depressive Disorder and any kind of anxiety disorder. CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected. I will help you change your thoughts and see your problems from a different perspective – and by changing your thoughts, you can change your life.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT, a treatment method that has been around for decades, uses mindfulness techniques to help you learn how to stay present with whatever obstacle life throws at you, and accept the suffering instead of fighting it. That doesn’t mean that we never work toward any goals or try to change anything about our lives – it just means that we learn to accept the things that are outside of our control.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE)
If you’ve been through a traumatic event, these evidence-based exposure therapy methods might be a good choice of treatment for you. It sounds scary to intentionally expose yourself to your fears, and I’ll be honest with you: it can be. But often, it’s the best, most effective way to take away the power that the traumatic memory holds over you. It’s scary, but I’ll be with you every step of the way.
